Trained in the form of ballet, there are traces that never disappear. A (body) posture and a sentiment, a palette of emotions that the world of ballet cherishes. For eight years, Sebastian has been busy thinking about these specific expressions. Those that have remained in both memory and body and can easily be reactivated. The work creates a place where they can both exist and be challenged.

This is the third project that starts from, explores and develops in the outskirts of ballet. The first ballet was created in 2016 at Weld with Kim Love Kjällman with the title Other, Ballet, Piece. The second was created with Noah Hellwig, Nefeli Oikonomou and Caroline Byström during the pandemic and was presented (as a live stream) from Stenkrossen in Lund, entitled Neo Ballet Project.

I am ballet. I am made of sadness, of liveliness, of desire, of memories, of horniness, of faith. Of an extended belly. Made of tears, of nostalgia, of desire, of a smiling lip and an outstretched ear. A pulsating hand, a closed eyelid, a stretched neck. I am thunder and lightning, the scent of roses, a tender caress and a burst of emotion. A sensitive skin. Bloody muscles. Goosebumps. A sweaty forehead. Right now I’m made of ballet, and so are you.

SEBASTIAN LINGSERIUS
is a choreographer who explores the frontiers of dance. He has turned Superman inside out, given the audience calf massages during performances, looked into the post-cyborgian and had robots talk about their bodily ailments, dissected philosopher Deleuze’s mind-body, and had an earthworm dance Gaga. His work has a strong interest in constructing psycho-somatic practices, non-straight dance bodies and reclaiming the language of dance. To dissect the power that governs the philosophy and politics of the body. Sebastian has been active in the Swedish dance industry for the past twenty years. He works in both the narrowly intimate and the large dance formats. He works with many cutting-edge artists every year, and prefers courage to predictability.

NEFELI OIKONOMOU
is a dancer, choreographer, performer and dance educator from Greece, based in Sweden. In her work she explores new horizons for the development of dance and choreography, at the intersection of the embodied and the poetic. Nefeli most recently curated the In an Act of Weaving festival at Weld, which began with dance performances, installations, video works, workshops and choreographic interventions. The festival then continued with podcasts and a book publication. She premiered the work Weavers in September 2022 in co-production with Weld and presented the installation version of the work in the Royal Armoury. Nefeli has collaborated with Sebastian since 2016 in various productions and together they are the initiators of SAND Dansstudio in Aspudden, a newly established studio for experimental practices.
