Nov. 20–23 Dumpster / Darko Dragičević (RS/DE)

Dumpster is a performative installation composed of text, sound, light and objects where performance and visual artist Darko Dragičević re-enacts a choreography of trauma.

Drawing inspiration from a personal experience of physical violence which occurred in 2001 in the centre of Belgrade, Dumpster activates body memory through multimedia documentation and site-responsive writing creating a dialogue between body and places.

Dumpster addresses topics such as the queer body in public and private spaces, (in)visibility, shame, fear, violence and political corruption, as ongoing problems that the LGBTQIA+ community faces in today’s Serbia. The first sketches of the project were created in 2013, and four evenings in Weld are the first open formats presented to the public.

DARKO DRAGIČEVIĆ (RS/DE)
is a Belgrade-born, Berlin-based performance and visual artist who explores the intersections of choreography, performance, dance, visual art, writing and film. He uses choreography and film direction as conceptual frameworks and artistic approaches to rethink performance and exhibition as hybrid formats.

In addition to participating in cross-disciplinary projects and intermedial collaborations, he publishes works, holds lectures and curates collaborative projects.

He teaches at Stockholm University of the Arts, MUK University Vienna, Konstfack University Stockholm, Humboldt University Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, Cologne University of Music and Dance, Folkwang University of The Arts Essen, Bern Academy of the Arts/Y Institut, and at Goethe-Insitut, JSKD International Summer Dance School Ljubljana, International Solo Dance Festival Bonn, Lokomotiva – Centre for New Initiatives in Arts and Culture Skopje, CoFestival Ljubljana, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Nomad Dance Academy, Collaborations/Judson Dance Festival/Beethovenfest Bonn and Kölner Philharmonie, Tanzquartier Wien, among others.
