Oct 3. SKÖRD / Roberto N Peyre (SE) with Nadja Voorham (NL/SE)

We are the audience, applauding and marvelling in ecstasy. Maenads and Satyrs in the chorós. Shards gather breaths. Autograph hunters. Whirlwinds. You are everything. We twist ropes and weave baskets of flesh and pheromones, carrying forth that which shall nourish us in the winter night over there. Astral nuts and moisture. We wave flags of laser gas and incandescent gold – the sun’s last damp rays. In Octoberefest.

Saturday 3 October, 1pm – 4pm

From Weld, Norrtullsgatan 7, down Drottninggatan to Hötorget, passing by Centralbadet at 2.30pm

Skörd (Harvest) – a swedish verbal noun derived from Skära (‘to cut’). It is also the name of a psychogeographical procession. The procession will set off from Weld, then make its way out and down Drottningatan towards some sort of conclusion at Hötorget. Everything and everyone in the procession’s path will, to some extent, be transformed by the interplay of the movement and the bodies, and vice versa.

The work is based on methods for intuitive and immersive body-voice choreography in public spaces, as developed through research within Peyre’s art project Labryo, and, by extension, the work This Turning Europe, which was previously presented in Stockholm by Weld and Konsthallen Accelerator. Within Labryo, Peyre explores contemporary aspects of borders, migration and trade in relation to pre-antique ceremonial rituals and aspects of (European) ethnogenesis. The focus is on somatic, aural and sonorous aspects of subject formation through collectives, landscapes, heritage and biotopes. Peyre studied chóros as a special student under Barbara Crescimanno at the ethnomusicological institute Arci Tavola Tonda in 2018. Barbara Crescimanno has previously participated in Labryo alongside Anna Koch, Anna Öberg, Shaya Khalil and Majulah Dramme.

Roberto N Peyre (SE)
studied aural and visual culture, critical theory and fine art at Goldsmiths (UK). He works as an art educator, curator, producer and, above all, as a practising artist through intermedia performance and installation. In his works and processes, he explores structures, instruments, organs and movements that involve more than human politicalities, subject formation, poetic expansion and the revolutionary unconscious.

Peyre’s work has been exhibited at, amongst other venues, Documenta in Kassel, the Venice Biennale, the Sophiensaale in Berlin, the Heine Onstad Kunstsenter in Oslo, the Ghetto Biennale in Port-au-Prince, the Rising Festival in Melbourne, and a host of large and small museums, art galleries and institutions in Sweden. He is an active member of the organisation Fylkingen and is currently studying at the Elektronmusikstudion in Stockholm.

Nadja Voorham (NL/SE)
is a choreographer and performer based between Stockholm and Brussels. She is interested in social relationships and dynamics, and in how the encounter between audience and performer shapes choreography. By insisting on attention, her work is an invitation to observe those moments when surfaces crack and the hidden seeps out. Her work has been presented at venues including Fræme Projects, Mimosa House, Weld, the Museum of Art and History in Geneva and Notafe. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art Practice from the Royal College of Art and a Master’s degree in Choreography from ISAC – Institut Supérieur des Arts et des Chorégraphies.

The Labryo project is being carried out with support from the Swedish Arts Council/IASPIS, the Helge Ax:son Johnsson Foundation, the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul and NKF.
