Nov 8. Book release: ”No Talking, No Props”

Quite possibly then, this era, which so congratulates itself on its self-awareness will come to be known as the time of the Great Derangement. Amitac Gosh, quoted in the work Again? What Now? / Yvonne Rainer, Weld 2018

The collaboration between Weld Company and the American dancer, choreographer, filmmaker and writer Yvonne Rainer took place at Weld in Stockholm October 2018 and resulted in the work Again? What Now? which will now reappear at Weld November 14-17.

The new edition of ”No Talking, No Props” released on November 8, is a collection of reflections on the work process of Again? What Now? by the company members Sybrig Dokter, Anna Westberg, Kajsa Sandström, Per Sacklén, Max Wallmeier, Andrea Svensson, Robin Dingemans and Pat Catterson, Yvonne Rainer and Frida Sandström. The embodied knowledge and methods experienced through the work belong to the archive of the dancers and the company. Further reflections on these forms of knowledge production are explored through this book.

The book contains the first published version of ”Revisions: A Truncated History of the Universe for Dummies, A Rant Dance, Lecture, and Letter to Humanity by Apollo Musagète”. The text is based on a performance lecture Rainer gave during her time at Weld and thematizes her constant negotiations between the personal, the art and the society.

The release is followed by a presentation of the work Passivity Rules / Memories of Being Hanged, Weld Company + Tova Gerge & Britta Kiessling at 7pm. Book at book.weld.se

”No Talking, No Props” is a series of publications about dance and choreography, written from the perspective of the practitioners connected to Weld Company, a continuously evolving part of the dance- and art space Weld in Stockholm. Each edition puts focus on practical embodied research, investigating and reconfiguring meanings, traces and conventions within the structure of collaboration between the company and its choreographers. The result is a series of subjective accounts; narratives that come about through the collective working process.

Contributors to the book: Pat Catterson, Yvonne Rainer, Sybrig Dokter, Anna Westberg, Kajsa Sandström, Per Sacklén, Max Wallmeier, Andrea Svensson, Robin Dingemans and Frida Sandström.
