Almost Out of Sight (Auditory Body)

This year’s edition of the festival Almost Out of Sight (Auditory Body) serves as a continuation and development of last year’s, in which darkness and loss of sight were the common elements used to challenge our visual perception. The current festival also encompasses the listening body in relation to various forms of architectural space. Several of the artists will present performances and installations emanating from the above theme suggesting various forms of storytelling and sound that are created by bodies or more subtle elements. The participating artists share an interest for different forms of audience participation based on the principle of guidance.

Unterhaltung is an elaborate microcosm consisting of analogue sounds, lights and movement. To be experienced by five people at a time.

Kjell Alinge, a Swedish radio personality, has made an underground radio show exclusively for Almost Out of Sight and Weld’s basement.

CHOREOGRAPHY/ARCHITECTURE

MELO invites to experience a spatial movement by way of hearing, feeling and internal imagery. With the sound, given forms are transformed generating new spacialities and atmospheric variations. What are the different ways that this sound architecture can be experienced?

THROUGH THE LIGHT CHAMBER

"Through The Light Chamber" is a performative installation that aims to deconstruct the visual experience to its basic ingredients and compose them into an invisible experience, a physical and mental excursion via memory and imagination. Set as a performance for a single spectator, "Through the Light Chamber" is a quest that takes the viewer into an imaginary maze of missing objects, lost memories and misplaced dreams, where the only
visible reality is himself and he becomes an incidental participant and the main subject of observation.

Cecilia af Dalmatinerhjärta presents an audiovisual installation where perspectives are dissolved and shifted. By raising an awareness of perception the visitor is guided by a voice to exchange roles with the installation.

Weld reissues Lundahl & Seitl’s first work My Voice, 2006. A piece now donated to Weld’s Performance Collection. A sole visitor at a time is to be blindfolded and follow a set of instructions iterated through a pair of headphones.

THE BLACK BOX THEATRE

The Black Box Theater, a mobile theater, has taken over one of Weld’s rooms. In there you will meet Pontus Petterson in one of many possible encounters; new and old works with variations specific for Almost Out of Sight. There will be 48 possible performances. A roll of the dice will determine which one you will experience.

SEACAUSTICS (Day #63)

During a 90-day long trip spent in isolation on a beach in Crete, Greece, the summer of 2010, Anastasios Logothetis documented the passing of every day in writing. Spanning over a large spectrum of formats the different days are now reproduced in artworks that reflect on the life on the beach. For Almost out of Sight he will present a monologue taking the visitors on a journey through the 63rd of those days. Lying down within an environment consisting of numerous plants and soft carpets one is to experience the interplay between seemingly disparate elements such as laziness, computer-generated water animations, the economic mentality, sexuality and love.

SKIN-PERCEPTUAL TITILLATIONS

Perceptual Titillations examines the physical touch as a medium. The visitors are blindfolded and led to concede their physical autonomy to the comfort of submission through an abstract yet respectful sense of touching.
Note: limited number of performances and visitors at a time, 30 minutes long.
