Apr. 24, 25, 26. Soso / Samuel Feldhandler (FR/AT)
Samuel Feldhandler continues to explore musical forms in his choreographies. Most recently, he presented Georges Tremble at Weld, a three-part sonata based on his grandfather’s story. In his new work, dedicated to his grandmother Soso, he uses techniques such as canon, quotation, fugue and inversion.
Sonia Feldhandler (called Soso) was born in France in 1933 as Sonia Krajsztajn and the daughter of Jewish-Polish parents. Her father left for the front in 1939 and her mother was arrested in 1942. Helped by neighbors and relatives, Soso managed to hide in a small town in Switzerland until she was reunited with her parents in 1946.
Today, over three quarters of a century and many, many stories later, two of her grandchildren are here, working together to bring to life the dance portrait: Soso.

SAMUEL FELDHANDLER
writes dance and lives in Vienna. Growing up in a family of musicians, musical forms were in his sensibility and attention long before he began to delve into dance. Today, Samuel passionately explores ways to invite these familiar forms into dance. He has been signing dance works since 2012. Samuel holds a bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance from Amsterdam University of the Arts and a master’s degree in choreography from DOCH in Stockholm.
Weld is supported by Stockholms stad, the Swedish Arts Council and Region Stockholm
