April 18. Ulla West and Tina Eriksson-Fredriksson: CORRECTION 1
MABL visits Weld on 18 April. This guest-performance marks the start of a series visualized close readings of the novel Correction by Thomas Bernhard.
Red Room at Weld becomes the site of a selection of works and titles from the MABL archive. During the evening the first live reading of 7 out of Correction is performed while the books quoted room dimensions begin to take physical shape on stage. An indigo dyed carpet emerge during the spring and summer series of close readings of the book, all performed in different places. Each reading takes about 40 minutes and is sound recorded to be included in the MABL's archives.
MABL is a flexible mobile archive and library. The archive contains artworks and text-based representations made and manifested with different materials, methods and motives. The collection grows forwards and backwards in time and, existing free from solid financing and institutions. MABL has a growing archive that is housed at Fiskargatan 1 in Stockholm. The mobile part varies, is replaceable, and is often constituted by occasional additions. Throughout 2013-2014 focuse has been on the writer Thomas Bernhard following his literary and geographical tracks and the expression "Library of the Evil Spirit" taken from the novel Extinction.
MABL is about identifying, understanding the world around us, to read one self from behind, to understand and to get lost. By searching and getting lost paths construct a form of fabric where the practice creates the foundation for a library, an archive consisting of visual remnants in the form of photographs, films, drawings, tests, prints, paintings, sculptures, experiments with digital technology, books, writings, printed matter as well as time-based events and performative interventions.
During spring and summer 2015 Correction 1-7 is performed as a series of events and readings in various locations in Stockholm:
