Emma Kim Hagdahl (SWE) and Elizabeth Ward (US), accompanied by the choreographing Mårten Spångberg (SWE) dissects ballet transforming it through black magic into a mixture between Edgar Allan Poe’s gothic occultism, Beckett’s satanic algorithms and a bunch of creepy Hollywood references. Like bloodthirsty willies two fragile spirits wander in a landscape charged with thick romanticism, etheric modernism and a few episodes of Trueblood.

DARK offers a new intimate mode of experiencing ballet, letting it be a bridge to somewhere else rather than a mode of display. In DARK ballet offers a mode of recognition, a backdrop to personal mysteries and individual agony, or a moments suspense where thought is set free and the unconscious plays the main character.

DARK is a dance performance celebrating Alfred Hitchcock: “the shock of the expected” – it’s you, two dancers and darkness. But who is the person next to you…
