MYCHOREOGRAPHY – A Warrior's Roar Holler Across The Sky
at 7 pm
During the last 18 months Mychoreography (MA program in choreography at the University of Dance) has undertaken some serious research into the depths of choreographic practices. As an extraterrestrial coda to their expeditions they visit Weld on January 21-23.
To understand something in its entirety we must first of all understand that everything is in constant movement, as with all closures they equally serve as the beginnings of what will become.
A Warrior's Roar Holler Across The Sky
A dance is a battlezone, a state of exception and hightened awareness. Choreography is the strategic means to let these moments lose, to allow them to invade us with all its ferociousness. To dance means to insist on staying at the front, to declare an armed presence.
The new performance brings post-critical solidarity past the point of return and embraces the doing together as the only possible future. All power to the commune. It is a call for struggle, whatever struggle. Why wait for 2012 when we can have the apocalypse now. A Warrior's Roar Holler Across The Sky is a series of over-determined images whose singular interest is to mobilize a subjectivity that gives up; that is ready to surrender the corporatized striving of mass-personalization.
It is a paving stone in the hand of the spectator, that willingly exchange her individualized subject, that trades his emancipated spectatorship for the raising voice of the commune.
There is no time to agree.
This piece is signed in the name of those people; of you and us. It's dancers are not its authors. We must not shrink in front of conclusions, it is enough just to say what is before our eyes.
