Nov 8: Weld Company/Litó Walkey
Weld Company enters a new period of work together with an invited choreographer. This time the Berlin based performer and choreographer Litó Walkey is visiting the company. Like all invited choreographers this season, Litó faces two set rules for the work: no talking and no props.
When Dance Company has been out of the question for many dance makers the past years, due to many reasons. Weld, an artist run experimental platform in Stockholm and Artistic director, choreographer Anna Koch is initiating the project Weld Company, running three months a year 2013-2015.
Weld Company is aiming to rediscover and revaluate the old institution of Dance Company and is updating the Company form through a collective work conducted by one of Weld clearly given structure. Dancers and choreographers from different backgrounds share a common, daily and physical practice and raise questions on dance and choreography today.
An important ambition is to thoroughly document, diskuss and present issues, processes, conclusions and results thatr comes along the way. Through public performences and talks etc. But also more continuously on the company blog. Follow the process at company.weld.se
Through learning choreographic material from an invited choreographer, the Company is interested in learning about technologies, aesthetics, theories and concepts of the visiting artist and to share the material with an audience. In addition to guest choreographers, the Company will make their own works, curate events and examine the Swedish dance archive. For invited guest choreographers, working with Weld Company is an opportunity to challenge oneself, to reconsider an older work, or to share an ongoing process.
