November 27: Weld Company+Shannon Cooney (CA)

Shannon Cooney’s dance practice Dynamic Expansion, is a somatic approach to movement exploration melding contemporary dance with the phenomenon of the craniosacral system.Moveable Cinema is a practice within in the practice which explores movement with heightened perception of the visual field.

Her choreographic process is aligned to a research, inquiry based practice. In recent years she is engaged in creating installation hybrid performances challenging the notion of traditional linear story-telling narrative.  She is creating performances which address narrative through the structures of real-time action and how these create and shape a space.

In answer to this invitation to work with the company Weld, they will explore these somatic movement mandalas, in their week together. A clear aspect to this work is its transmutability from practice into performance.
