October 2+3. Osynliga Teatern: Radio Ballet and The Transparent Shadow
October 2+3 at 6, 7 and 8pm
Radio Ballet and The Transparent Shadow is a performance that takes place in a pitch-black environment in which the physical presence of the dancers has been replaced by the audience itself, binaural recordings and directional sounds. Thus, allowing visitors to move in a borderland between the dancers and their own imagination. In what ways can dance be experienced when visual perception is not a part of the actual experience? How can physical presence be felt when the body cannot be seen?
In Radio Ballet and The Transparent Shadow we find various artistic disciplines such as choreography, spatial installation, binaural sound design and radio storytelling coming together to create a cohesive sense experience in which the public can act both as a witness and an active participant.
OSYNLIGA TEATERN
Tomas Rajnai and Jens Nielsen initiated Osynliga Teatern while attending the radio course at Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. Tomas Rajnai has previously worked as a curator and producer. He has a degree from the International Curatorial Master’s Program at University of Stockholm. Jens Nielsen has previously studied fine art at The College of Printmaking Arts (Grafikskolan). They both share an interest in creating cinematic experiences using sound. With Osynliga Teatern they produce inter-disciplinary, site-specific exhibitions that experiment with the audience’s relationship to performance. The aspiration is to inspire visitors into finding new personal and architectural relationships with their surroundings.
Their works are not only focusing on displaying interior/urban spaces and soundscapes but also aim for visitors to discover impressions from within themselves, encouraging a will to act within a constructed world. Producing situations where every visitor is instilled with a curiosity to explore the story from within the self. The works call on the visitor to step into a world where reality, the perceived and imagination are interfused.
