October. Exhibition. Sex and Dance / Bengt Elmén

Throughout October, leading up to the finnisage on 24 October, the artist and satirical cartoonist Bengt Elmén will be exhibiting his work in our foyer. Do pop in to have a look before or after regular performances when you visit us!

Through satirical drawings and text, Elmén explores the unexpected similarities between sex and dance. With humour, sharp observation and a sense of the absurd, the works revolve around the body, desire, movement and human interaction. Sex and dance are two of life’s great pleasures. In his fifth solo exhibition, Bengt Elmén brings the two together – and perhaps even lets them mate.

Elmén works as a satirical cartoon artist, creating his drawings in collaboration with his personal assistants, who, among other skills, contribute their expertise as illustrators. His cartoons have been published in Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet and Galago.

Elmén has a background as an activist, author, lecturer, mentor, filmmaker and YouTuber. Throughout his varied career, he has been interested in encouraging people to see the world – and themselves – from new perspectives.
