Sep 19. Moving Landscapes Together / QUARTO (BR/SE)
For seven years, the artist duo QUARTO have been transporting a metal cube through various landscapes and locations around the world. In Stockholm, Moving Landscapes has been performed at Odenplan, Tensta Square, Raul Wallenberg Square, Rinkeby Square and outside the National Museum. Now the cube is coming to Stockholm’s busiest square – Sergels torg – and this time QUARTO has invited the dancers Elinor Tollerz Bratteby and Levi Blad to step inside the cube alongside them.

QUARTO, consisting of Leandro Zappala and Anna af Sillén de Mesquita, regards the cube as a topos – a place for temporary residence and for positioning oneself in the world. In *Moving Landscapes Together*, the duo invites two dancers/performers to step into the work and, together, explore the relationship between body, place and movement.
The cube is not seen as a symbol of solidity or permanence, but as a vessel in motion, an echo of the Brazilian favela: improvised, communal and constantly changing. What is central is not its monumentality but its emptiness – an open invitation to enter, move about, reshape and activate
The work is inspired by the 1959 neo-concrete manifesto by the Brazilian poet and writer Ferreira Gullar, in which a work of art is only made complete through the viewer’s participation. The cube is a place to share and transform together.>

QUARTO
is an interdisciplinary artist duo founded in 2003 by the choreographers Anna af Sillén de Mesquita and Leandro Zappala, who are based in Stockholm, Rio de Janeiro and Heby. Their work is deeply rooted in the interplay between theory and practice and explores the boundaries between body and object through radical, visual and physical experiences. Through artistic interventions, QUARTO invites the audience to engage with social, political or existential issues. QUARTO’s work has been shown at leading international museums, venues and festivals in over 25 countries. In 2018, QUARTO was awarded the Birgit Cullberg Fellowship in recognition of its significant contribution to contemporary performance art.
